Stevens Elementary School
East 1815 Sinto Avenue
Stevens School was first built as a two-room, wood-frame schoolhouse in the 1800s for children of Spokane pioneer families. In 1908, the wood frame schoolhouse was replaced by a permanent two-story brick school building with eight classrooms. One year later in 1909, the school was extended with another eight classrooms. In 1949, four additional classrooms were built, and in 1953, four more classrooms were added, totaling 24 classrooms and a large multipurpose room. Stevens School is large and comprises two acres along with its playground. Students from Stevens School later attended Lewis & Clark High School in the 1960s, graduating in 1968.
